THINK DEEP – TO CREATE AN URBAN UNDERGROUND FUTURE

Are you interested in an urban underground future? On Tuesday 26 May 2015 from 09:00 – 12:30, the ITA Committee on Underground Space (ITACUS) is organising a special event on the planning of cities and their underground space.

Han Admiraal & Antonia Cornaro, ITACUS’s chair and vice chair, will host this event and receive top engineers, planners and architects as well as urban designers and urban decision makers to highlight the latest developments and insights in terms of urban underground space.

Key topics to be discussed are:

·       ‘the world is evolving – are we making a world of difference?’;

·       ‘the planners have to think deep’ and;

·       ‘creating an urban underground future’.

The programme consists of keynote presentations, interviews, interaction with the public and videos. As part of the programme the joint ISOCARP – ITACUS publication of five case studies on underground space use will be handed over to ITA President Søren Eskesen and ISOCARP President Ms Milica Bajic Brkovic and presented by one of its authors, an urban designer from London. This event is a not to be missed opportunity for anyone who is interested in our cities’ future and why and how it should focus on an urban underground future.
