This day is an annual event celebrated on the 4th of December, otherwise known as the Feast Day of St. Barbara, traditionally seen as the Patron Saint of Tunnellers.

The aim of World Tunnelling Day is to generate interest in world class tunnelling projects being undertaken worldwide and to promote the industry to students of all ages and the general public.

It let us acknowledge our strengths in tunneling, be thankful for the experiences we had in the past and pray for our future successes.

That special day of the year was highlighted by numerous celebrations as well as by organisation of events (seminars, training sessions, conferences...) all over the world.
