In October the ITA President, Soren Eskesen, and the Executive Director, Olivier Vion, together with Zaw Zaw Aye, Expert to the Executive Council for South East Asia, viisted Myanmar Engineering Society, representing the country inside ITA and particpated in a 1/2 day workshop, presenting on Risk management, use of underground space and on Climate change and impact on underground striuctures. More than 50 people participated and shared their views. This visit was also an opportunity to meet the board of MES and discuss on future actions. As new projects are about to start, notably a huge sewer program in Yangon, MES is interested in training in tunnelling in urban areas. In the future development of underground mines will also be a topic. As for all new Member nations, the ITA is trying meet regularly in order that they feel like in a family and knowledge sharing becomes a reality.
