International Tunnelling Association President Arnold Dix has launched a worldwide Lego Technic tunnel boring machine (TBM) design
competition, in partnership with the Lego group, as part the ITA’s ongoing initiative to inspire the next generation of tunnellers and civil engineers.
The competition is intended to inspire the young, and young at heart, to create an inspiring prototype Lego Technics TBM to be hosted on the
Lego Technic website to evaluate consumer reaction.
If Lego receive more than 10,000 likes for the prototype Technics TBM they will proceed to a full technical assessment of a global ITA TBM Technic kit.
Arnold confirmed that the ITA has committed that any and all profits from the project will be donated to a new and dedicated STEM education and training fund.
