A two-day training session on mechanized tunnelling was held in Guadalajara, Mexico on 29th- 30th June 2015.

The ITA-CET Committee structured this short course around four sessions. After a look at the advantages and drawbacks of mechanized tunnelling, site investigations and selection criteria for TBM, the lecturers tackled the subject of improvement and support systems, operation and site management issues. Field examples were provided through case studies and the course ended with a question and answer session.

The organizational aspects of the training session were handled by the ITA-CET Foundation and AMITOS, the Mexican association of tunnel engineering and underground works.
