University professors and PhD stidents conference: call for abstracts!

10 November 2023

Following, a successful first two editions in Turin (2019) and Leoben (2022), the ITA's Committee on Education and Training (ITA-CET) is delighted to announce that the third ITA-CET University professors and PhD students conference will take place in Zurich, Switzerland, on 3rd-4th June 2024.

The aim of this event is to strengthen collaboration between universities, whether in Europe or elsewhere in the world, and enable them to showcase their research work in tunnelling.

The conference is open to all universities and you do not need to be an ITA-CET university network member to participate.

The provisional programme is as follows:

  • 3rd June afternoon: meeting of university professors (informal discussions on courses on offer, research and exchange opportunities etc.) This meeting is open to professors only.
  • 4th June: students and professors present their PhD research work (either ongoing or recently finalized)

Should there be a considerable demand for this event, a second day of PhD presentations may be envisaged on the morning of 5th June 2024.

Registration for this ITA-CET event is free of charge and universities interested in participating are invited to return the attached abstract proposal form to ETH Zurich before 21st December 2023.

All interested participants (speakers or spectators) are asked to return the separate registration form.

We kindly invite you to to circulate information on this ITA-CET event within your respective networks.

Those interested in prolonging their stay are welcome to attend the Swiss Tunnel Conference which will take place on 5th and 6th June 2024, starting in the afternoon of 5th (registration fees for this external event will apply).

We look forward to seeing you in Switzerland!
