SAVE THE DATE: UNDERGROUND SPACES WORKSHOP MEXICO

ITACUS and the Mexico Member Nation representative AMITOS will jointly host a joint workshop on 7 and 8 November 2019 in Mexico City. The workshop aims at covering all aspects of underground space development. ITACUS will be represented by Han Admiraal, Antonia Cornaro and Marilu Melo. Leading up to this workshop AMITOS and the ICA Foundation have launched a photography competition aimed at capturing the fascination and beauty of tunnelling and underground spaces. The competition is open to all and the winners will be announced at the close of the workshop on 8 November 2019. We encourage you all to enter the competition. The Asociación Mexicana de Ingeniería de Túneles y Obras Subterráneas A.C., AMITOS (Mexican Association of Tunnel Engineering and Underground Construction) and Fundación ICA A.C. (Foundation ICA) are happy to invite the general public to participate in our first photography contest.An important item for our Association’s Project includes the task of collecting, documenting and cataloguing our historic collection of underground works, to which photographic material represents a fundamental part. Because of this, we have decided to invite our members and the global tunnelling community to join this endeavour, and motivate them to exploit their visual talents and share their passion for tunnelling.

 

Basis of the contest

a) Anyone can participate, Mexican or foreigner.

b) The theme is Underground Construction, no restrictions on what type.

c) A maximum of ten photographs can be sent in.

d) The photographs must be sent in digital format, resolution no lesser than 300 pixels per inch and a size no smaller than 30cm on its larger side (length or width).

e) There are no restrictions on colour, effects, or filter use.

f) Photographs must include: title, author, date when it was taken (can be approximate), and name of the construction site where it was taken.

g) The rights of the photographs will remain on the photographer but he/she will accept to share them with AMITOS to be part of the photography collection for marketing and communication purposes.

 

Judges

The jury will be composed by four recognized photographers.

 

Selection Criteria

The photographs could be selected for their quality and technique, but also for the story they tell. The photographs that do not meet the requirements on d) above will be disqualified.

Selected Photographs and Awards

There will be a first, second and third place for individual photography and an honourable mention for the three photo collections. The awards ceremony will take place at an international workshop we will organize in collaboration with ITACUS on 7/8th. November 2019. In addition to the photographs being rewarded there will be a selection of at least one hundred images that will become a part of the AMITOS archives and the photographers will be recognized.
