ITA shows what underground space brings to cities at 10th World Urban Forum

20 February 2020

The Tenth World Urban Forum, the bi-annual premier global planning event, organised by UN-Habitat was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 8-13 February 2020. ITA and ITACUS were present with a dedicated team working from a booth in the exhibition arena. Many visitors, including ministers and senior governmental representatives, were welcomed to the booth and learned about what underground spaces brings to our cities. There were exchanges with colleague NGOs present, often just by talking in the corridors between booths. Highlights can be viewed here and give a great overview of what the World Urban Forum is about. Already plans are being made for the next edition in two years time in Katowice, Poland. ITA will be there again and this time could be collaborating with others through a joint exhibition space. WUF10 ended with a call to action. In a video message the President of the UN General Assembly, Mr Tiijani Muhammad-Bande, referred to the WUF10 theme of the Cities of Opportunities: Linking Culture and Innovation saying: “We must take urgent action to utilise culture and innovation as an accelerator of SDG implementation if we are to create a better world for all.” ITA and ITACUS were proud participants of WUF10 and demonstrated our passion for tunnelling and underground space. The team included Olivier Vion, Abidemi Agwor, Marilu Melo, Petr Salak, Antonia Cornaro and Han Admiraal.
