The ITA Tunnelling Award 2019 for Innovative Use of Underground Space was awarded to SCAUT, the Swiss Center of Applied Underground Technologies, for Underground Green Farming. As part of the ITACUS NXT LVL program, ITACUS and SCAUT jointly produced the short video ‘Growth Below’. The video was entered for the Beter Cities Film Festival, organised as part of WUF10. On Wednesday 12 February 2020, the winners were announced and ‘Growth Below’ received the ‘Emerging Ideas 2020 Award'. ITACUS is very proud of this achievement demonstrating the use of urban underground spaces for new, much needed, uses. Dr Marilu Melo, Activity Group leader Urban Integration, received the Award and thanked the organisers and audience. Prof. Youssef Diab, ITACUS Scientific Ambassador also attended. The video can be viewed here.
