The world's biggest climate negotiations, the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28 UAE), has concluded and for the first time nations have struck a deal to move away from fossil fuels, focus on energy efficiency, scaling the deployment of renewable energy and most importantly, acknowledge the role of cities in fighting impacts of climate change while building resilience. ITACUS was represented by its Steering Board Member (Urban Adaptability) - cum - Development and Outreach Lead Mahak Agrawal at COP28. Mahak led workshops in the Blue Zone with UNESCO and UAE Ministry of Education to highlight the role of youth in climate action. Mahak was also invited by the UNFCCC’s YOUNGO, and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources as high-level panelist to talk about the work ITACUS leads in re-imagining climate resilient future of cities with underground spaces at the core of design and planning.
