ITACUS Leads Key Underground Space Discussions at NYC Climate Week and UN Summit of the Future

10 October 2024

What if the solutions to urban challenges were already all around us—waiting for a little reimagining?

ITACUS - the ITA Committee on Underground Space Steering Board Member Mahak Agrawal recently led the design, development, moderation, and delivery of three official events at New York Climate Week and one at the United Nations Summit of the Future.

Spoiler alert: it was a rollercoaster of creativity, caffeine, and chaos!

On September 20, incredible panelists and experts Philippe RahmSara KareratAntonia Cornaro and Joyce van den Berg, showcased how cities can transform...

...not just through shiny new technologies but also by harnessing the potential of existing spaces and systems in smarter, more sustainable ways.

From underground developments to climatic architecture and biodiverse soil ecosystems to public well-being, our focus was clear

We need to think holistically and creatively to tackle today's urban challenges tomorrow.

It was inspiring to see leaders, planners, and thinkers from around the globe unite to share, learn and discuss bold visions.

What’s next?

The conversation doesn’t stop here!

ITACUS is eager to see how we can implement these ideas and keep the momentum going.

?  Check out some snapshots from the event—featuring moments of brilliance (and a few hilarious bloopers)!

?   I’d love to hear your thoughts: What innovative solutions do you envision for our cities?
