India at the Forefront: Seven Robbins TBMs to bore Metro Tunnels around the Country

Robbins’ latest manufacturing facility, located in Delhi, India is the scene of much activity as seven TBMs are readied for work at metro projects around the country. The large facility enables Robbins to quickly and efficiently manufacture multiple TBMs at local and regional projects.  The seven machines currently underway are all Crossover and EPB TBMs scheduled for reuse in Delhi, Chennai, and Agra. Recently, factory acceptance tests and ceremonies were held for two machines destined for Agra Metro.

Mechanized Mining Pushing the Limits

As the world’s ore deposits become ever deeper, there is a greater need for mechanized mining machines. Robbins is innovating solutions for underground mining, whether it’s non-circular, mechanically excavated tunnels for access to deep ore bodies or decline shafts for mines. The company’s Mine Development Machine (MDM) 5000 continues its rectangular bore through hard rock and is persevering in water-bearing ground conditions.
