While the Covid-19 pandemic is not over, showing signs of continuing for some time, the tunnel industry met on 30 June 2021 in a virtual conference to hold the 47th General Assembly of the ITA, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association. In times of uncertainty, it was the occasion for the worldwide NGO to give an overlook on the main activities of the Association, main future events (Tunnelling week), achievements of Working Groups and committees and on future events. As planned, ITA presented the updated strategy for the new 3-year term.

Over the last few months, Covid19 pandemic has brutally impacted global economy. The tunnelling industry gathered last week in a virtual conference to hold the 46th General Assembly of ITA, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association. In times of uncertainty, it was the occasion for the worldwide NGO to give an overlook on the main activities of the Association, achievements of Working Groups and committees and on future events. As planned, ITA presented the updated strategy for the new 3-year term.

 

The International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association held its forty-fifth General Assembly in Naples, from 5 to 8 May 2019, in conjunction with the World Tunnel Congress 2019 "Tunnels and Underground Cities: Engineering and Innovation meet Archaeology, Architecture and Art", organized by ITA and the Società Italiana Gallerie (SIG) of Italy. More than 2500 persons participated in the Congress. 62 of the 78 Member Nations participated or were represented in the General Assembly.
 

The International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association held its forty-fourth meeting in Dubai, from 22 to 25 April 2018, in conjunction with the World Tunnel Congress 2018 "The role of underground space in building future sustainable cities" organized by ITA and the Society of Engineers of United Arab Emirates. More than 1550 persons participated in the Congress. 47 of the 75 Member Nations participated or were represented in the General Assembly.

The International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association held its forty-third meeting in Bergen, from 9 to 14 June 2017, in conjunction with the World Tunnel Congress 2017 "Surface challenges – underground solutions " organized by ITA and the the Norwegian Tunnelling Society. More than 1600 persons participated in the Congress. 52 of the 74 Member Nations participated or were represented in the General Assembly.

The International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association held its forty-second meeting in San Francisco, USA, from 22 to 28 April 2016, in conjunction with the World Tunnel Congress 2016 "Uniting the Industry" organized by ITA and the UCA of SME.
