The Greek Tunnelling Society has 287 members and 92 trial members. In 2011 GTS participated in the 37th ITA General Assembly and the WTC 2011 in Helsinki.
It participated in 1th International Conference on Tunnels and Underground structures in South East Europe symposium organized by ITA Croatia.
It organized a successful technical lecture by Jamie Standing, Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering at Imperial College on « Geology, engineering and ground response to tunnelling ».
The WG on TBM selection and guidelines draft report was presented and discussed. It is now under revision in order to produce the final report.
The WG on final tunnel linings, on shallow tunnel influence on slope stability and on vocabulary of technical terms are also in progress.
An International Symposium on Practices and Trends for Financing and Contracting Tunnels and Underground Works is scheduled and organized for the year 2012.
