The Icelandic Tunnelling Society is an independent Society of Corporate and individual members.
Excavation continued on the Budarhals hydro scheme and breakthrough of the 4 km long headrace tunnel was reached in November.
No other tunnel work in progress in 2012.
Bids were opened for the Vadlaheidi road tunnel (7,5 km) in late 2011 but contracts were not signed until February 1st 2013.
Excavation will start in spring 2013.
Preparation continued on the Nordfjordur road tunnel (7,8 km) and pre-qualification went on in 2012. The project will be sent out for tendering early 2013.
