Tunnelling and Underground Construction Society Singapore has 857 Corporate and individual members.
Technical seminars were held monthly at the SMRT auditoriumat North Bridge Road by speakers covering a wide range of topics related to tunnelling and underground construction.
The technical seminars, generally conducted on the 3rd Thursday of each month, were free and open to TUCSS members and to the general public. In total 153 seminars had been conducted by TUCSS up to the end of year 2012.
TUCSS Annual Dinner
TUCSS Annual Dinner was held on 25 October 2012 at Raffles City Convention Centre. The dinner was attended by 55 TUCSS individual members, 9 non-TUCSS individual members, 44 invited guests, 270 Corporate members, 10 non-TUCSS Corporate Members, 19 Dinner Sponsors and 1 Main Sponsor.
The winners of the Hulme Prize 2012 and Geotechnical Awards 2012 from NUS and NTU were presented with their certificates during the dinner by TUCSS President, Mr Kulaindran Ariaratnam. The winners of the TUCSS-NUS Msc (Geotechnical Engineering) award were also presented with their certificates during the dinner.

TUCSS Annual Lecture
TUCSS Annual Lecture was held on Friday, 7 September 2012 at the NTUC Auditorium. The lecture was entitled “Development and Implementation of Kuala Lumpur’s First MRT and the Tunnelling Challenges”. The speaker was Mr. Marcus Karakashian.
The Annual Lecture was attended by 159 TUCSS members and 37 non-TUCSS members. The lecture explained how the first KL MRT line - Sungai Buloh to Kajang came to fruition and addressed the planning, procurement and construction aspects. The lecture, also covered the challenges to be overcome when tunnelling through the Kenny Hill and Karstic Limestone geological formations under Kuala Lumpur.
1st Singapore-Japan Tunnel Seminar 2012
1st Singapore-Japan Tunnel Seminar 2012 was held from 15 to 16 March 2012 at InterContinental Singapore. It was attended by 154 TUCSS members, 50 non-TUCSS members, 88 invited guests and 21 exhibitors. There were 7 Keynote Speakers and 3 Guest Speakers.

TUCSS Training Courses
TUCSS course on “Supervision of Tunnelling Works” was held on, Thursday and Friday, 23 and 24 August 2012, at Mandarin Orchard. A total of 126 TUCSS members and 36 nonmembers attended the course.
TUCSS course on “EUROCODE 7” was held on, Monday and Tuesday, 19 & 20 November 2012, at Mandarin Orchard. A total of 76 TUCSS members and 25 non-TUCSS members attended the course.
TUCSS Technical Site Visit
TUCSS organised a technical site visit to MCE – C485 Project on Friday, 16 March 2012. TUCSS organised a technical visit to the DTL2 – C921 Project on Saturday, 6 October 2012. TUCSS organised a technical visit to Hypertherm’s Cutting Technology Centre on Saturday, 6 December 2012.

TUCSS Geotechnical Engineering Award
TUCSS awarded the NUS-Geotechnical Engineering Award Year 2012/2013 to Mr Tan Li Hong of $1,500.
TUCSS awarded the NTU-Geotechnical Engineering Award Year 2012/2013 to Mr Jong Ming Chuan of $1,500.
TUCSS-NUS M.Sc. (Geotechnical) Scholarship
TUCSS awarded outstanding candidate/s in MSc (Geotechnical Engineering) programme in NUS. The two recipients are part-time students, Mr Cui Zhe and Mr Chen Wai Hing.
RE/RTO (Tunnel) Accreditation Scheme
TUCSS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IES/ACES in October 2008 for the Accreditation of Site Supervisory Staff (Tunnel) and this was renewed in 2010. During 2012 TUCSS Sub-Committee considered and responded to applications for RE/RTO(T) submitted through IES and held seminars and training courses to support the continued professional development of RE/RTO(T).
Asia Pacific Rail 2012
TUCSS participated as a supporting organisation at the 14th annual Asia Pacific Rail 2012 from 13 to 15 March 2012 that was held in Hong Kong.

Monthly technical seminars will be held generally on the 3rd Thursday of the month at SMRT auditorium.
TUCSS Training Courses on Tunnelling and Underground Construction are scheduled for June and September 2013.
TUCSS Golf Tournaments are planned in March 2013 and September 2013.
TUCSS Annual Lecture will be held during September 2013.
Site Technical Visits are planned half yearly TUCSS Annual Dinner is planned for October 2013.
Hulme Prize Paper Competition will be held during the 2nd quarter of the year. Three shortlisted participants of technical papers will give an oral presentation at a TUCSS Seminar and judging will take place at the same time. Awards will be presented during the TUCSS Annual Dinner 2013.
