The UCA of SME Membership Structure consists of Individual, Corporate, Sustaining, Student, Honorary, and Registered Members. The Executive Committee has 16 members, and three officer positions of : Chair, Chair-Elect, and a Past Chair.

Executive committee meetings

The January 25, 2012 meeting was held in New York in conjunction with the George A. Fox Conference and Moles Dinner. The June 27, 2012 meeting was held during the North American Tunneling Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The number of attendees for 2012 was 377 compared to 351 in 2011.

2012 sponsorships were $49,300 (compared to $47,800 in 2011).

2012 National seminar on pressurized tbm tunneling

UCA of SME and NATJ co-hosted the Cutting Edge conference on Pressurized TBM Tunneling at the JW Marriott Miami, April 22-24, 2012. This conference was attended by 238 people and generated $25,000 in sponsorship contributions. The two-day program featured a sold out field trip to the Port of Miami Tunneling Project on Sunday. Technical sessions were held on Monday and Tuesday, with a total of 23 presentations and two panel discussions. An exhibit floor of 10 booths featured a welcome reception and lunches daily.

North American Tunneling (NAT) conference

The 2012 North American Tunneling conference offered two short courses in addition to three days of technical programming, focusing on "Tunneling, Driving Value".

The UCA of SME Education and Student Outreach Committee completed a video for attracting students to join the tunnelling industry. It has been added to the UCA of SME http://uca.smenet.org/jobs/index.cfm. The page also allows corporate and sustaining members to advertise jobs in their companies.
