EPB ready to start excavation
The first TBM urban tunnel initiated its construction by the end of 2014. It is a 2,5 m final diameter and almost 1800 m long sanitary tunnel, that it is ready to be excavated by means of a EPB-TBM. The French construction company CSM-BESSAC is the main Contractor.
The hydroelectric tunnels finished successfully during 2014: Torito H.E.P., a 7.8 m tunnel constructed by means of an EPB-TBM, and Cachi's tunnel, partially excavated by means of a road header machine, the first one used in Costa Rica.
