Sandvik’s underground drilling and tunneling offering includes equipment and solutions for rock drilling, tunneling and excavation applications, including tunneling jumbos, rock support drill rigs and a range of other underground drilling equipment. Sandvik works closely with customers around in the world. A recent example is the Shinnozoki Tunnel project in Japan together with Taisei Corporation. In this project, the fully automated tunneling jumbo Sandvik DT1131i was put to the test in a large mountain tunnel. Automated drilling delivered consistent results regardless of the operator, contributing to improved stability in the drilling process. In recent years, Sandvik equipment has been employed, among others, in the Bronzolo Bypass Tunnel in South Tyrol, Italy, and in a transformative infrastructure project in the city of Anyang, South Korea.
