Information Modelling in Tunnelling
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a building or piece of physical infrastructure. BIM serves as a shared knowledge resource for information about an asset throughout its lifecycle; it includes supporting decision making and encompasses strategic appraisal and planning, design and construction to operation, maintenance and renewal. Information modelling systems allow us to deliver quality engineering to owners and contractors. The process requires skills, tools and robust procedures. For the entire tunnelling community to take advantage of this, it is of paramount importance to share these experiences and to implement exceptional standards and guidelines, which are driven by the building industry.
