About ITA
Underground solutions for a better world
Founded in 1974 by the initiative of nineteen Nations, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) mission is to lead, advocate and facilitate the development of sustainable and innovative solutions for increased, optimised, safe and equitable use of Underground Space.
A word from the President
At the start of the year, it is important to reflect on what we build together and to look ahead. Progress, in tunnelling and within ITA, relies on passion, expertise, cooperation and mutual trust.
Our Member Nations are at the heart of ITA, linking international expertise with national decision-makers and turning knowledge into tangible outcomes. Recent months have offered excellent opportunities to strengthen collaboration, share best practices and promote ITA’s vision for sustainable underground space, in line with our motto: Underground Solutions for a Better World.
Looking forward, the Executive Council and Executive Director continue to enhance cooperation among future World Tunnel Congress host nations, aiming for more streamlined events through shared tools and harmonised practices.
This new year opens with continuity, collective commitment, and the ambition to advance sustainable underground solutions for a better future.
