In November 2021, ITACUS joined UN Environment Programme-led Sustainable Infrastructure Partnership (SIP) as an official partner. This partnership was led by ITACUS co-chairs Han Admiraal and Antonia Cornaro, and Mahak Agrawal (ITACUS Outreach and Development Lead) and supported by Rowan Palmer, Joseph Price and Ana Gabriela Fernandex Vergara from UN Environment Programme.
Launched by UNEP in 2018, the Sustainable Infrastructure Partnership (SIP) is a platform to promote and support integrated approaches to sustainable infrastructure planning and development. Such approaches recognize the centrality of infrastructure to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and can help to deliver optimal social, environmental, and economic outcomes of infrastructure development by considering the complex interlinkages between different infrastructure systems, sectors, phases, governance structures, and aspects of sustainability.
Joining the global community of policy, business and finance professionals and organisations, ITACUS is committed to collaborative generation, management and sharing of knowledge on the transition to an inclusive green economy, while exploring the subsurface!
As part of the partnership, ITACUS is currently finalising a case study on underground data centers in Helsinki, Finland and the value of embedding circular economy principles for climate action beneath the surface.
